What To Do When Homeopathy Doesn’t Seem to Work...

Posted by Dr. Lisa Samet N.D. on Nov 15th 2021

In my over 25 years practicing homeopathy, I have encountered a number of situations where well-chosen remedies didn't elicit much of a reaction, or I saw a good initial reaction which didn't last. Previously, I would continue prescribing what ended up being less helpful remedies (of course, I had prescribed the most similar remedies first), to the frustration of both the patient and me!

As the years passed, I began to see that there were two major types of interference to getting a sustained healing reaction from a patient who had been prescribed a good remedy: one is dietary stress and the other is emotional stress, specifically ongoing anxiety and worry. Samuel Hahnemann, homeopathy's founder, wrote in the Organon (his great written work on homeopathy): “…. Finally, the physician must know the obstacles to recovery in each case and be aware of how to clear them away so that the restoration of health may be permanent."

I have begun using two different tools to get around these problems and help my patients have a deep and sustained reaction to their homeopathic remedies. The first tool is a food intolerance test. The lab I use examines IgG and IgE antibody reactions to 95+ foods via a blood test. If food intolerances are uncovered and the foods can be eliminated, I find the reaction to the remedy is much more evident and the healing uninterrupted.

The second tool now in my tool bag is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

I’ve often seen patients respond well to a remedy, but their intractable anxiety and worry undermine their progress. While one’s emotional state can get somewhat better with homeopathy, I find that anxiety and worry is often a bad habit.

Studies in neuroplasticity over the years reveal that we can change habitual thinking with awareness and intent and I have found that EFT can actually release stuck emotional patterns.

While of course there are numerous other potential obstacles to cure, general lifestyle coaching (good sleep, a mostly plant-based diet, regular exercise, day to day stress management, etc.) can readily address those.

So, if you are a person not having as much success with homeopathy as you'd like, try considering food intolerance testing and finding some way to address stuck or blocked emotional issues. You should then see better results with homeopathy!
